Brief History of Luis Hervias National High School

In 1970, through the Special Education Fund of the Bacolod City Government, Villamonte High School was established to cater the needs of the students of Barangay Villlamonte. Classes then were held in borrowed classrooms of the Dona Corazon L. Montelibano Elementary School. Through the joint efforts of the Bacolod City officials, PTA officials and the Barangay Villamonte Council headed by Atty. Jose Las PiƱas, a 1.75 hectare lot was donated by Atty. Claudio Hervias and Family. In 1972, the then Villamonte High School was officially changed to Don Luis Hervias National High School in memory of the late father of the school benefactors. In 1984, the school had developed from a locally funded high school to a nationalized high school bearing its present name LUIS HERVIAS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.
